Bright future for College of Science and Engineering grads
The numbers are in for recent graduates of the University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering graduates, and the future looks bright. Surveys of students who graduated in summer 2017, fall 2017, and spring 2018 revealed that six months after their respective graduations, more than 94 percent were employed, continuing school, or making progress toward a career.
Of that 94 percent, 77 percent were employed, 19 percent were attending grad school, and 4 percent had other plans, including the military, internships, additional undergraduate education, or volunteer work.
Those employed had an average starting salary of $65,210—more than $15,000 higher than the salary for college graduates nationwide.
CSE graduates are also continuing to fuel the region's high-tech economy, with 74 percent of CSE graduates staying in Minnesota and 83 percent staying in the Midwest.
