Four decades of leadership gather at the University of Minnesota for public conversation

For the first time, four decades of University of Minnesota leadership will be on campus together. President Eric Kaler, along with five former U of M presidents – Peter Magrath, Kenneth Keller, Nils Hasselmo, Mark Yudof, and Robert Bruininks – will discuss higher education and the future of the state of Minnesota.

The conversation, moderated by the Star Tribune’s Lori Sturdevant, is expected to address a wide range of issues, including the challenges of a diverse and changing world, financing public higher education and safeguarding academic freedom. The event is free and open to the public.

Presidents served the following terms:

  • C. Peter Magrath, 1974–1984
  • Kenneth H. Keller, 1985-1988
  • Nils Hasselmo, 1988-1997
  • Mark G. Yudof, 1997-2002
  • Robert H. Bruininks, 2002-2011
  • Eric W. Kaler 2011-Present
