In the months since COVID-19 upended our lives, the University of Minnesota has responded to the pandemic with inspired ingenuity, compassionate creativity, and focused fortitude. We’ve saved lives here in Minnesota and discovered breakthroughs that have helped the world better understand the virus.
Two leaders at the helm of our response are President Joan Gabel and Dr. Michael Osterholm.
Only a year into her presidency, President Gabel has driven the U’s decisive action, shepherding our institution through an unprecedented challenge, one that has impacted every person on our five campuses across the state. Meanwhile, as one of the world’s preeminent infectious disease experts, Dr. Osterholm has become a beacon for measured and accurate information about the pandemic, helping Americans across the country safely adapt to their new normal.
