In the spirit of school pride and community service, the University of Minnesota Alumni Association invites Golden Gophers from coast to coast to participate in the second annual Alumni Day of Service. On September 19, in cities around the nation, U of M graduates will gather to give back to their community while connecting with fellow alumni.
“The U of M has a robust community of over 445,000 alumni across the nation. We’re proud to give U of M alumni an opportunity to don their maroon and gold, gather and give back to their neighborhood in meaningful ways,” says Lisa Lewis, President and CEO of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association. “We’re pleased to offer Alumni Day of Service events not just in the Twin Cities, but across the nation.”
Alumni Day of Service includes 11 events throughout the Twin Cities and 10 events across the U.S., in cities including New York City, San Francisco, Denver and more. The activities include volunteering at food banks, providing technology training for low income families by facilitating workshops on accessing digital learning activities and using a laptop that the families take home at the end of the session, participating in forest restoration by removing invasive species, weeding community gardens and more. Many activities are open to family participation.
