In the spirit of school pride and community service, Golden Gophers across the globe will participate in the fourth-annual U of M Day of Service on Saturday, Oct. 14.
In 30 cities around the country and the world, the day offers U of M graduates, their friends and families the opportunity to give back while connecting with fellow alumni in their area.
"The Day of Service is an opportunity for our global family of 477,000 alumni to positively impact their communities," said Lisa Lewis, President and CEO of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association. "The Alumni Association invites them to don their maroon and gold, gather and serve in their own neighborhoods again this year."
Seventeen events will be offered throughout the Twin Cities, with 13 more taking place in cities across the country and the globe, ranging from New York City to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and even Tokyo. Participants will volunteer at food banks; distribute personal care items to veteran patients; pickup trash; plant trees; landscape; and much more. Many of the activities offered are open to family participation.
