U of M Aurora Center to participate in Domestic Violence Awareness Month

students

In recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, The Aurora Center for Advocacy & Education at the University of Minnesota will participate in a national campaign to end relationship violence. With events and programming throughout October, The Aurora Center aims to educate and motivate the campus community to address this serious issue.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month is a national effort led by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Activities focus on three main goals: mourning those who have died because of domestic violence, celebrating those who have survived domestic violence and bringing people to work to end violence together.

Staff and volunteers at The Aurora Center have planned events over the course of the month to support victims and survivors of relationship violence, promote awareness across the campus and foster a community who actively seeks to prevent violence towards anyone.

Programming includes a #HealthyRelationships social media campaign, a National Call of Unity event that seeks to bring people together in support of survivors and a Silent Witness Project that remembers victims who lost their lives to domestic violence.

All events are free and open to the public. See a full schedule of The Aurora Center’s programming during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
