U of M leaders to welcome students on first day of class

What: University of Minnesota leaders welcome students back to campus with fun giveaways and free snacks.
When: Tuesday, September 5, 2017, 9:30–10:30 a.m.
Where: U of M East Bank (middle of the campus mall between Smith Hall and Vincent Hall), U of M West Bank (plaza on west side of bridge near Blegen Hall) and St. Paul campus (outside St. Paul Student Center on Buford Avenue).

University of Minnesota students will be welcomed back to campus in style on Tuesday, Sept. 5, the first day of fall semester classes. Approximately 25 members of the University’s leadership will participate in morning meet-and-greets, share fun giveaways, give students golf cart rides to class and hand out free snacks and coffee at all three Twin Cities campus locations.

President Eric Kaler, his wife Karen Kaler, Executive Vice President and Provost Karen Hanson, several college deans, Goldy Gopher and others will participate, learning about students' goals and expectations for the 2017–2018 academic year. Giveaways include plenty of coffee, Angie’s BoomChickaPop snack packs, U of M-developed SweeTango apples grown in Minnesota and a variety of U of M goodies (Goldy Gopher floss, sunglasses, tote bags, Honeycrisp lip balm and temporary tattoos).
