University of Minnesota commencement begins systemwide this week

In the coming weeks, the University of Minnesota will host numerous commencement celebrations to recognize more than 13,000 students across its five campuses for their academic achievements and congratulate them as they take the next step toward productive lives and careers.

University of Minnesota commencement celebrations are special events for all involved. Helpful safety and attendance guidelines specific to each event and venue are provided via the links below to support a joyful experience for all graduates and guests. The complete commencement schedule is as follows (ordered by date):

Friday, May 2

Medical School (M.D. students) at Northrop, 84 Church St. S.E., Minneapolis, at 2 p.m. Dr. Patrick Jackson, chief of general surgery and residency program director at Georgetown University, will address graduates. 

Saturday, May 3

College of Continuing and Professional Studies at Northrop, 84 Church St. S.E., Minneapolis, at 10 a.m. Steve Davis Jr., senior director of affinity engagement at the University of Minnesota Alumni Association, will address graduates.

University of Minnesota Crookston at Lysaker Gymnasium, Sports Center, 2900 University Avenue, Crookston, at 11 a.m. Chancellor Mary Holz-Clause, Student Body President Madison Elijah and Regent Tadd Johnson will address graduates.

Thursday, May 8

College of Liberal Arts and College of Science and Engineering (graduate students) at 3M Arena at Mariucci, 1901 Fourth St. S.E., Minneapolis, at 1 p.m. Ethelind Kaba, alum and executive director at the Ann Bancroft Foundation, will address graduates.

Friday, May 9

School of Dentistry at Northrop, 84 Church St. S.E., Minneapolis, at 10 a.m. Dr. Michael A. Brooks, Jr. will address graduates.

College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (undergraduate students) at 3M Arena at Mariucci, 1901 Fourth St. S.E., Minneapolis, at 2 p.m. Professor Emerita Marla Spivak will address graduates.

Saturday, May 10

University of Minnesota Duluth at AMSOIL Arena at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center; 350 Harbor Dr., Duluth, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Two student speakers will address graduates.

College of Pharmacy at Northrop, 84 Church St. S.E., Minneapolis, at 11 a.m. Gary Milavetz, associate dean of faculty at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, will address graduates.

College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (graduate students) at Ted Mann Concert Hall, 2128 S. Fourth St., Minneapolis, at 1 p.m. Julie Simonson, vice president of R&D Product Innovation at Schwan's Company, will address graduates.

University of Minnesota Morris at Campus Mall, 600 East Fourth St., Morris, at 1:30 p.m. Monti Ossenfort, alum and general manager of the Arizona Cardinals, will address graduates.

Sunday, May 11

College of Veterinary Medicine at Ted Mann Concert Hall, 2128 S. Fourth St., Minneapolis, at 10 a.m. Stephan Schaefbauer, area veterinarian in charge for USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service in Minnesota, will address graduates. 

Monday, May 12

College of Biological Sciences and Medical School (graduate students) at McNamara Alumni Center, 200 S.E. Oak St., Minneapolis, at 5 p.m. 

Thursday, May 15

College of Science and Engineering (undergraduate students) at 3M Arena at Mariucci, 1901 Fourth St. S.E., Minneapolis, at 1 p.m. Jeff Dean, alum and chief scientist at Google, will address graduates. 

College of Design at Northrop, 84 Church St. S.E., Minneapolis, at 3:30 p.m. Larissa Loden, alum and jewelry designer, will address graduates.

Law School at Northrop, 84 Church St. S.E., Minneapolis, at 10 a.m. Governor Tim Walz will address graduates.

University of Minnesota Rochester at Mayo Civic Center Auditorium, 30 Civic Center Drive S.E., Rochester, at 11 a.m. Student speakers and Amy Collins, faculty in the Center for Learning Innovation, will address graduates.

Humphrey School of Public Affairs at Ted Mann Concert Hall, 2128 S. Fourth St., Minneapolis, at 4 p.m. David Uejio, alum and associate director for the Office of Policy, Data, and Oversight at the Federal Housing Finance Agency, will address graduates.

College of Biological Sciences (undergraduate students) at 3M Arena at Mariucci, 1901 Fourth St. S.E., Minneapolis, at 5 p.m. Laurie Parker, associate dean for undergraduate education in the College of Biological Sciences, will address graduates.
