The University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus has been chosen by Forbes and Statista as one of America’s Best Employers of 2015. The list of best employers will be published in the April 13 edition of Forbes magazine, on newsstands now.
Five hundred employers were selected for the honor of best employer out of more than 20,000 U.S. companies nationwide. Forbes ranked the University of Minnesota Twin Cities 10th in education and 65th overall.
“I thank our employees for this honor,” said University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler. “Our high employee engagement is a driver of academic excellence.”
The University is leading the way in employee engagement in higher education. It was the first to launch a comprehensive annual employee engagement survey in 2013. University employee engagement results are on par or exceed high-performing corporate norms. Survey data shows University of Minnesota employees are as proud, committed and motivated as employees in top global performing companies. In the fall of 2014, the Twin Cities campus had nearly 23,000 employees.
“It’s the employees who make this a great place to work,” said Kathryn Brown, University of Minnesota Vice President for Human Resources. “High employee engagement only results when leaders and teams are working together to create a productive and positive work environment.”
Statista conducted the independent survey via online panels of 20,000 American employees who work for large U.S. companies and institutions. The mix of respondents (gender, age, region, educational level, and ethnicity) in the sample was representative of the overall U.S. Work force. The survey was conducted on companies in all industry sectors employing more than 2,500 workers in the U.S.
