Two University of Minnesota alumni have earned coveted positions on the 2015 Forbes 30 Under 30 list, an honor that celebrates 600 young people across 20 fields who are changing the face of tomorrow.

U of M Carlson School of Management graduates Asha Sharma, ‘11 and Erik Eliason, ‘08 share the honor with other “game changers” ranging from NBA basketball player James Harden and actor Keira Knightley to Glossier founder Emily Weiss and Alan Schaaf, founder of Imgur.

Sharma won a spot in the marketing and advertising category for building home improvement start-up Porch from the ground up. Today she’s its CMO, where she has established a crucial partnership with Lowe's and helped recruit talent from leading corporations.

Eliason was recognized in the retail category—those who are “reinventing how we shop, online and off.”

Eliason is the cofounder of Storefront, a service that places pop-up shops in otherwise vacant buildings, helping online-only retailers who wish to establish a temporary physical store. He estimates the company has helped more than 100 brands expose their products to new customers.

As U of M graduates, Asha Sharma and Erik Eliason haven’t just found jobs in industry—they’ve created them.
