Students, faculty, and staff,

As a follow-up to building closures along Northrop Mall on Monday, the same buildings will remain closed on Tuesday, April 30. Other buildings on the East Bank campus will remain accessible to students, faculty, and staff via U Card access, as they were on Monday.

Tuesday is a designated study day at the Twin Cities campus and there are no previously scheduled classes set for tomorrow. Other activities and events that may have been planned in these buildings will need to be moved to an alternative location on campus, switched to remote options, or rescheduled.

East Bank faculty, staff, and student workers – including graduate assistants – who work in affected buildings should follow the advice sent today from the Office of Human Resources, including:

  • Employees who can work remotely should do so. If you are unclear if you can work remotely, please reach out to your supervisor.
  • Essential employees should be notified by their supervisor if they will be needed on campus.
  • Those who are unable to work remotely but are not deemed essential should stay home. You will be paid for the time you are regularly scheduled to work, just as you will be for your hours on Monday. Your local leaders and human resources team will have more information for you on how this time will be tracked.

We are working diligently to balance practical safety and operations needs with our commitment to upholding freedom of expression through peaceful and lawful public discourse and protest. We will continue to communicate if any future building access changes are necessary.
