Message to the community

April 30, 2024

Students, faculty, and staff,

Buildings along Northrop Mall will remain closed on Wednesday, May 1. Other buildings on the East Bank campus will remain accessible to the University community via U Card access.

Activities and events that may have been planned in these buildings will need to be moved to an alternative location on campus, switched to remote options, or rescheduled.

East Bank faculty, staff, and student workers – including graduate assistants – who work in affected buildings should follow the advice from the Office of Human Resources, including:

  • Employees who can work remotely should do so. If you are unclear if you can work remotely, please reach out to your supervisor.
  • Essential employees should be notified by their supervisor if they will be needed on campus.
  • Those who are unable to work remotely but do not have an essential employee designation should stay home unless you receive word from your manager. You will be paid for the time you are regularly scheduled to work, just as you will be for your hours on Monday and Tuesday. Your local leaders and human resources team will have more information on tracking this time.

We apologize for any disruption these closures cause, and thank you for your continued flexibility. We will continue to communicate future building access changes.
