Youth Central is a new resource for Minnesota parents.

The University of Minnesota is helping youth discover what drives their passion in every corner of the state.

Parents can learn about a variety of U of M programs through Youth Central, a website hub for families of K-12 students to sign up for the hundreds of programs offered each year. This one-stop portal is intuitive to use, allowing parents to easily search for classes across the state by area of interest, age, location and month. Visit youthcentral.umn.edu to view available U of M youth programs.

From a week of climbing trees (while hanging out with arborists), to learning about bees at the Bell Museum (it’s all the buzz), to exploring planes, trains and automobiles (while learning about transportation careers)—the U of M has something for every Minnesota youth. These extracurricular programs help combat the summer slump experienced by K-12 students and help expand their social skills.

“By providing diverse youth programs, the U of M is able to enrich children’s lives across the state of Minnesota,” said Matt Kramer, vice president of University Relations. “These programs introduce young people to science, business, agriculture, arts and more through hands-on exploration. We are excited to make these opportunities even easier to find for parents.”

Testimonials from program participants

“4-H is a great opportunity to meet new people and do things that you never thought you'd try. You can learn new things all the time! 4-H takes you a long way if you stick with it and you might just find something you love too.” — Katelyn, 4-H

“I didn’t know I was going to make so many friends here. I ended up learning more than I thought I was going to. It exceeded my expectations, so I really enjoyed this camp a lot.” — Cindy Su, National Summer Transportation Institute

“I think it’s really fun. And it’s also a very good opportunity for kids who stutter to know they’re not alone. This is my first year, and I’m coming back as many years as I can.” — Madison, Kids Who Stutter Camp
