At its July meeting, the University of Minnesota Board of Regents will discuss the fifth and final focus area of the University’s Systemwide Strategic Plan: Supporting the Mission. The discussion is expected to focus on aligning the University’s financial framework – including the University’s biennial budget request to the state – with the priorities of the other focus areas of the plan: Outreach & Public Service, Research & Discovery, Medicine & Health and Teaching & Learning.

The Systemwide Strategic Plan will guide the direction and priorities of the University, aligning the unique strengths of the University’s five campuses to best serve the state. The University began its systemwide strategic planning effort in fall 2016 and the Board is expected to review and take action on the complete Systemwide Strategic Plan in the upcoming academic year.

The July meeting will be the final presentation of the plan’s five focus areas. The Board’s February meeting focused on Outreach & Public Service, the March meeting on Research & Discovery, the May meeting on Medicine & Health and the June meeting on Teaching & Learning.

The Board is also expected to:

  • Receive the annual report of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association.
  • Review the annual report of Intercollegiate Athletics on the Twin Cities campus.

The Board typically does not hold committee meetings in July. For more information, including future meeting times, visit the Regents website
