Introduction

Bonnie Keeler, Ph.D., is an assistant professor at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, where she is affiliated with the Center for Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy, the Institute on the Environment, and the Natural Capital Project. Keeler works at the intersection of sustainability science and environmental economics, with particular expertise in water management and policy.

At the Humphrey School, Keeler's team partners with state and federal agencies, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders to co-develop solutions to environmental challenges. Current projects include investigating the impacts of climate change on water resources, mitigating the effects of green gentrification in cities, and developing new approaches to quantify the economic value of water resources.

Keeler is a co-director of the CREATE Initiative, a Grand Challenges research project and graduate fellowship program that advances community-engaged scholarship at the intersection of water and equity.

Keeler also leads a research lab with expertise in ecosystem services, environmental economics, food-water-energy policy, conservation and biodiversity protection, water resources and policy, and environmental justice. The lab uses interdisciplinary approaches drawing from economics, conservation science, and geospatial analyses to address challenges related to natural resource management and policy.
