Introduction
Donald Nixdorf, DDS, MS, is a professor and the director of the Division of TMD and Orofacial Pain at the School of Dentistry. His teaching and clinical interests include the diagnosis and management of chronic TMD pain, headaches, and neuropathic pain.
Nixdorf’s research focuses on persistent non-odontogenic tooth pain, issues of classification, diagnosis, epidemiology, exploration of mechanisms, and treatment options.
Nixdorf approaches dentistry through the perspective of neuroscience and seeks to make impactful change that improves the quality of life of people with chronic pain.
