Introduction

Nelson Rhodus, DMD, MPH, is a distinguished professor and the director of the Division of Oral Medicine, Oral Diagnosis, and Radiology at the School of Dentistry. He focuses on basic and clinical research with oral manifestations of systemic disease and chronic degenerative autoimmune diseases. 

Rhodus has made strides in oral cancer research, including the development of a non-invasive screening method for detecting oral cancer using a spit test. He’s also leading interdisciplinary research with the School of Dentistry, the College of Biological Sciences, and Department of Otolaryngology.
