Mosaic Company Foundation Honors Jim Prokopanko through Term-sponsored Professorship for Corporate Responsibility at the Carlson School of Management

The Mosaic Company (NYSE: MOS) today honored its recently retired President and Chief Executive Officer, Jim Prokopanko, through the renaming and reinvestment of a term-sponsored professorship at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. Initially formed by Mosaic and the Carlson School in 2010, the renamed “The Mosaic Company – Jim Prokopanko Professorship for Corporate Responsibility” will receive $500,000 from The Mosaic Company Foundation, with disbursement beginning January 2016.

“As Mosaic’s leader, Jim Prokopanko was steadfast in his belief that sustainability and social responsibility could deliver shared value,” said Mark Kaplan, Board President of The Mosaic Company Foundation and Senior Vice President of Public Affairs at The Mosaic Company. “By continuing this professorship in Jim’s name, we honor his legacy and commitment to doing meaningful business—while helping to advance important academic research and innovation in the field of corporate responsibility.”

A 35-year agribusiness veteran, Prokopanko was Mosaic’s President and CEO for nearly eight years. He has served on the Carlson School of Management’s Board of Overseers since 2009.

"With its focus on growing more food, responsibly, Mosaic is a great example of a company that’s committed to corporate responsibility—from its global supply chain to its people and the communities it operates in," said Sri Zaheer, Dean of the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. "Jim Prokopanko has raised the bar with his leadership, and we are grateful Mosaic has chosen to honor him with this Carlson School professorship."

In 2010, Mosaic provided one of the Carlson School's two inaugural term professorships designed to provide annual support to recruit and retain top business school faculty talent. At its inception, The Mosaic Company Professorship for Corporate Responsibility was awarded to Supply Chain and Operations (SC&O) Faculty member Kingshuk Sinha. With his professorship focus, Sinha worked across the SC&O department and across Carlson School disciplines on ground-breaking research that benefited businesses and tackling grand challenges facing the regional, national and global community.
