Chino Nwakama (’23, Neuroscience, College of Biological Sciences) is creating opportunities for historically marginalized and low-income students to connect with science. Nwakama started KidSTEAM, an after-school program through the University YMCA that partners with CBS to make science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) fun and accessible. Nwakama was recognized for his science outreach work with an Undergraduate Scholarly Excellence in Equity and Diversity Award and the President's Student Leadership & Service Award.
