U of M Celebrates Homecoming Week in a “Gopher State of Mind”

What:     University of Minnesota Homecoming Week

In a tradition dating back to 1914, the University of Minnesota kicks off the 2015 Homecoming week festivities on Monday, September 21. This year’s theme, “Gopher State of Mind,” celebrates school spirit and encourages the campus community to embrace their pride in the University of Minnesota.

Some of the media-friendly activities include:

Monday, September 21

Party on the Plaza

5:30–7:30 p.m. Coffman Memorial Union, Front Plaza

Celebrate the start of Homecoming with live music from Hippo Campus, performances by the U of M Marching Band, Spirit Squad and more.

Friday, September 25

Homecoming Parade

6:30 p.m. University Avenue

The Homecoming Parade promotes unity among students, staff, faculty, alumni and the surrounding community. This year's parade route is on University Avenue. Watch the parade between 12th Avenue Southeast and Oak Street Southeast or in the Family Viewing Area. The Family Viewing Area is located in the Donhowe Building parking lot on University with on-site restrooms, face painting, hot chocolate, games and more.

Homecoming Concert

7:15 p.m. TCF Bank Stadium

The 2015 Homecoming Concert features performances by Big Sean, Smallpools, and Marc E. Bassy. Doors open at 7:15 p.m., concert begins at 7:45 p.m. $20 University of Minnesota Twin Cities student; $40 General Public.

Saturday, September 26

Ski-U-Mania

11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. McNamara Alumni Center

Join alumni, fans and students before the Homecoming football game for a party featuring the crowning of the Homecoming king and queen, food by D'Amico, Goldy, the Spirit Squad and more. $10 per person.

Homecoming Game

2:30 p.m. TCF Bank Stadium

Cheer on the Gophers as they take on the Ohio University Bobcats.
