Four undergraduates in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities have been named 2015 Barry M. Goldwater Scholars. The prestigious, competitive scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue research-oriented careers in mathematics, the natural science, and engineering. The scholarship awards up to $7500 per year for two years of undergraduate study. All four Scholars are juniors enrolled in the University Honors Program.

At its Friday, March 27 meeting, the University of Minnesota’s Board of Regents will consider a resolution endorsing immediate and longer-term actions outlined by President Eric Kaler to strengthen the University’s human research subjects practices, including ongoing Board oversight and monitoring.

The University of Minnesota announced today that it has been selected as one of only two universities in the country to gain open access to DigitalGlobe Basemap, an online map and database of current, high-resolution satellite imagery of the globe. Access to DigitalGlobe Basemap creates vast new possibilities for academic research and education at the University of Minnesota.

The University of Minnesota’s Resilient Communities Project (RCP) is pleased to announce that Carver County has been selected as its partner community for the 2015–2016 academic year. The partnership will bring the expertise of the University and hundreds of graduate and professional students to sustainability-related projects identified by Carver County and its partners, which include the Carver County Community Development Agency, SouthWest Transit, Independent School District 112, and the Cities of Victoria, Chaska, and Watertown.
